Kalevala Society
The Kalevala Society is a foundation-based organization focused on the arts and sciences, founded in 1919 by Akseli Gallen-Kallela and four others. To this day, the Society serves as a meeting place for science and the arts, drawing inspiration from the Kalevala and cultural heritage.
Getting Started with a Workshop
The website design process began with a workshop where we started by defining the basics: who the site is for, what its purpose is, and how it aligns with the strategy.
The guiding principle was that all decisions made during the project should somehow reflect the workshop’s guidelines.

Visual appeal above all else
The Kalevala Society focuses on science and the arts. For G-Works, this was an extremely welcome starting point: we were able to take artistic liberties with the site’s design and boldly use shapes and illustrations—of which there was plenty available.

Fast Technology
The website is one of G-Works’ first sites built using headless technology. In this new approach by G-Works, the underlying WordPress content management system is technically separated from the site visible to the user.
The result is a website that is so fast and smooth to use that it leaves its competitors far behind.
