Website and reservation system

Kotimaailma operates nationwide as a provider of furnished apartments and serves tourists, corporate clients, and those seeking short- and long-term housing throughout Finland. The service is based on flexible living and hassle-free booking, allowing customers to quickly and reliably find, compare, and book a suitable property.

To meet these needs, Kotimaailma launched a website redesign in early 2025 in collaboration with G-Works, with the goal of taking the digital customer experience to a new level and better supporting the company’s business.

The goal of the website redesign was to build an impressive, efficient, and commercially effective platform that serves a diverse customer base, supports growth, and makes finding and booking the right housing solution as seamless as possible.

The previous website served primarily as a showcase where users could browse listings by city and learn about Kotimaailma’s services. However, the actual booking process took place in a separate third-party system, to which users were redirected away from the site. This disrupted the customer journey, weakened the brand experience, and created friction, especially at the critical stage of the purchase decision.

The key goal of the redesign was to bring the entire booking journey under a single, unified user experience. The goal was to integrate the booking system directly into the Kotimaailma website all the way through to payment, so that customers could complete the entire process from start to finish without unnecessary redirects. At the same time, the goal was to clarify the service offering, improve the website’s performance, and create a strong digital foundation for future development.

The website was built on the WordPress platform using a modern headless architecture, which enables flexible content management combined with excellent performance. The user interface was built using Next.js and React technologies, ensuring fast loading times and a scalable technical solution that will meet future needs as well.

One of the project’s key technical challenges—and at the same time, one of its strengths—was integrating multiple third-party interfaces into a single, clear, and user-friendly whole. Thanks to this solution, users can check availability, compare options, and make reservations directly on the Kotimaailma website without having to navigate to external systems.

Online payments were implemented using the Paytrail integration, which enables a secure, reliable, and familiar payment experience as part of Kotimaailma’s own brand environment. This builds trust, reduces abandoned reservations, and directly supports sales growth.

The end result was a modern, visually striking website that genuinely supports the business, combining usability, technical performance, and a clear customer journey. Customers can now find, compare, and book furnished apartments, as well as pay for their reservations, all easily within a single service.

G-Works’ collaboration with Kotimaailma continues actively with regard to website maintenance and further development, ensuring that the digital service evolves in line with the business and customer needs.
