Fimet's starting point for the project
Fimet, a company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and product development of dental units, needed to revamp its previous website, whose visual design and usability no longer met Fimet’s needs. In addition to the website, Fimet used a separate system—an extranet for distributors—that faced operational challenges.
Steps for implementation
During the bidding phase, the technical implementation of the website as a whole was defined in detail. The specification process led to a solution in which WordPress would serve as the primary technology for the site, and an extranet would be built using its multisite functionality. During the project definition phase, the plans from the bidding phase were confirmed and refined.

Website design
Fimet’s in-house designer had already created an initial sketch of the new website’s designs, which G-Works’ UI designer Joona then developed further into the UI/UX realm. The website designs were created in Figma, the application used by G-Works, and versions were created for both desktop and mobile. Separate designs were also created for the extranet views, which followed the look and feel of the main site.
Website features
The project was implemented based on the visual designs and detailed plans. Among other features, an interactive map was created for the main site, allowing visitors to filter Fimet’s distributors by clicking on the map. Fimet’s product pages also play an important role on the site, and versatile content blocks were created for them that Fimet can utilize when updating content. For communication purposes, a news section and a list of references were added to the site.

Extranet
The goal of the extranet was to provide distributors with easy access to various product files, such as images and brochures. We implemented a file repository structure on the extranet, where distributors are provided with files on various topics in their own folders. Different roles can be created for extranet users, determining which content they can view on the extranet. A key feature of the extranet is the search function, which allows users to search for content using keywords, even within PDF documents. The site’s search functionality was implemented using the widely popular Finnish search plugin, Relevanssi.
Launch of the publication and maintenance service
Toward the end of the project, a training session on how to use the new website and extranet was held for Fimet’s project team. A video recording of the training session was also created for Fimet’s internal use. The website and extranet were thoroughly tested by both G-Works and Fimet and launched on the agreed-upon date. At the project wrap-up meeting, the G-Works project team received special praise for its customer service and quick response times.
After the project, the entire website platform was transferred to the expert hands of Respa, G-Works’ maintenance team.
