Media Desk
Media Desk is a service office for professionals in the audiovisual sector that operates in conjunction with the Finnish Film Foundation. Its three professionals help the industry navigate the complexities of EU funding and contribute to the vitality and funding of the Finnish audiovisual sector.
Getting the Basics Down in the Workshop
G-Works approached the project during the workshop phase by focusing on simple fundamentals: Who are our users, and what kinds of things are they interested in? We found that the needs and ways of using the site differ greatly between film producers and students in the field. Those working in financing need information clearly and immediately—students, on the other hand, are developing their own skills.
Many visual styles
There was no shortage of visual guidelines in the Media Desk redesign. EU organizations and programs had various, sometimes conflicting visual guidelines, and Desks in other countries had followed them in a wide variety of ways. The project required finding a visual direction that respected these visual identities, which were, in part, contradictory. It was certainly an interesting challenge for the designer!
A fast and smooth-running website
The Media Desk website is, above all, an information portal that offers carefully curated content organized into logical categories.
The site’s technology is based on pre-built static pages managed by the WordPress content management system. This solution results in an extremely fast and user-friendly website that can also be extensively customized.
