Need
Interpreting services are rapidly becoming digitized. To respond to the growing competition in the industry, Suomen Tulkkauspalvelu decided to launch a project to develop a mobile app for interpreters. At the same time, the enterprise resource planning system needed to be updated, and a new booking system for scheduling interpreters had to be developed. Naturally, all of these systems needed to integrate seamlessly with one another.
Launching the collaboration with a system audit
The collaboration between G-Works and Suomen Tulkkauspalvelu began in early 2023, when Suomen Tulkkauspalvelu Oy was undergoing corporate restructuring. A system project had been started in previous years but had been left unfinished. G-Works conducted a comprehensive audit of the unfinished system. The audit evaluated the solutions that had been implemented as well as the amount of work required to complete the system.
Technical implementation
Following the audit, work began on developing the system. G-Works completed the unfinished interface and mobile app (Android and iOS) features, added a host of new features, and updated the systems to make them ready for release. During the project, it was decided that the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which had been started earlier, would be completely rebuilt as part of the same integrated solution alongside the new order management system.
The final result
Finnish Interpretation Services underwent a digital revolution with the completion of its new system. Using the app, interpreters can conduct online video call interpretations on their mobile devices. Clients can use the app’s instant interpreting feature, which instantly connects them with an available interpreter—the so-called “Uber for interpreters”! In addition, remote and in-person interpreting services can be booked through the new booking system, which transfers reservations to a modern enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Naturally, all components of the system—the mobile apps, the booking system, and the ERP system—communicate seamlessly with one another via an interface.
